Violent clashes in Mélèzes – RTN your regional radio station

Violent clashes erupted between the Jura supporters and the Neuchâtel police. The altercations occurred Friday evening at the end of the game between HC La Chaux-de-Fonds and HC Ajoie in the quarter-finals of the Swiss League ice hockey play-off. The match took place in Neuchâtel lands, in Mélèzes. Videos are shooting on social networks. We discover police officers using pepper sprays and batons to evacuate the visitor area. Others show agents being sidelined by supporters. The cantonal police of Neuchâtel communicated in the afternoon that a person had to be hospitalized following this altercation. She had to go out during the day. Several others were injured.

Already during the game, two Neuchâtel supporters were taken out of the ice by the security of the HCC and arrested by the police following bad behavior towards the opposing camp. The tension was therefore very palpable. Objects were thrown from both sides. At the end of the meeting, at around 10:20 p.m., the rink security brought in the Neuchâtel police inside the infrastructure. The Ajoulot kop was about to break one of the barriers separating them from Neuchâtel supporters. The police statement said the intervention was necessary to ensure the safety of those present and to avoid confrontations. During the evacuation of the visitor area, ultras were physically attacked by the police, who had to use pepper sprays and means of restraint, according to the Neuchâtel police.

As part of this investigation, police are calling for witnesses to identify the perpetrators of this altercation. People with information are asked to contact 032 889 90 00.

No comment from Enraigi

We tried to reach the cape of supporters of HC Ajoie who did not wish to speak to the media at the moment. On their Facebook page, however, it is noted that the Enraigi “denounced this kind of police violence and that they would fight to the end to defend their rights and freedoms as supporters and citizens”. / Comm-ncp
