Viltvārdis defrauded people of money under the pretext of collecting donations for a sick girl

In the records of the Riga Northern Department of the State Police, there is a criminal process that was started on February 28, 2023 regarding possible fraudulent activities on the social network “Facebook”, by placing an advertisement on February 10, 2023 with an invitation to donate funds for the treatment of a child, the State Police informed the LETA agency.

During the pre-trial investigation of the criminal trial, it was established that a user of the social network “Facebook” – the foundation “World Unity” posted an advertisement on the social network with an invitation to donate to the treatment of a child.

The ad contained a description of the heart disease of a 14-year-old girl, Tiffany Malenhova, and the fact that she allegedly needed a heart operation in Germany. The fraudulent advertisement also indicated the amount required for the operation – 5,430 euros – and an invitation to transfer the money to the bank account of the “World Unity” foundation.

The information obtained by the police shows that such a child with heart disease is not registered and the ad is not true.

On April 11, in the criminal proceedings, one of the board members and the sole beneficiary of the foundation “Pasaules jenitība” was recognized as a suspect and a non-custodial security measure was applied to him.

The police call on citizens to be cautious and to donate only to public benefit organizations that have received this status in accordance with Latvian laws.

“Firmas.lv” information shows that Nikolajs Dubro, Aigars Kiseļovs and Arturs Kiseļovs are on the board of the said foundation.
