According to police reports from Friday, the car driving on Unterdorfstrasse in Villmergen AG came off the street at 9.50 a.m. and crashed into a candelabrum. A local resident reported the accident via emergency number 117.
Before the first police patrol arrived at the scene in less than ten minutes, there was no trace of the inmates. Two people fled on foot and disappeared.
Several patrols from the cantonal and regional police and a service dog from the Muri regional police were deployed. After an hour, a 33-year-old man in Villmergen managed to track down and arrest him.

The police were also able to find the vehicle key. The second person has not yet been stopped. The 33-year-old Swiss citizen from the Lenzburg district, who may have driven the vehicle while drunk, was temporarily arrested.
