Villa Dolores lives in convulsed days due to the flare-up of coronavirus cases in the city, and the replacement of the authorities of the Traslasierra Regional COE, which occurred over the weekend.
With more than one hundred cases in 20 days, and five localities affected and in phase 1 of isolation, the area has become, in relation to population density, one of the most important nuclei of the pandemic in the country.
The city center woke up on Monday surrounded by the Police, in order to ensure strict isolation, and because some non-essential merchants had announced to open despite the ban. The police controls multiplied in the income and in the interior of all the populations.
“The contagion curve is impressive, it is greater than we imagined, we are in very poor health,” Mayor Gloria Pereyra told the press on Sunday, after meeting with authorities from the Provincial Coe.
To Justice
The Chief of the Northern Departmental Police of the Province, Leonardo Páez Stelmach, arrived to coordinate the security operation around strict compliance with Phase 1 of isolation. And he stated that he will go to Justice before anyone who transgresses the norms.
The director of the Regional COE, Juan Uez, was supplanted on Saturday in that role, and returned to the direction of the Villa Dolores hospital. The new local head of the organization is Diego Almada, who considered that it would be “almost suicidal” to relax at this time, as requested by a sector of the community.
On Friday morning, a mass march of merchants and self-employed workers requested the controlled opening of premises that were not essential.
Villa Dolores and the nearby towns, in the south of the valley, will continue in Phase 1 of isolation, at least until July 11.
