The election provided historical diversity in the Storting. But what terms should one use when talking about background and skin color in politics?
–Conservative politician Mahmoud Faramand has for many years been committed to equality, diversity and integration. But he thinks it is unproblematic that VG referred to his “ethnicity” as Iranian. The picture is from a boat trip during the election campaign.
The newly elected Storting has a record number of representatives with an immigrant background. VG wrote this last week. They listed 11 politicians with “ethnicity” from countries such as Turkey, Somalia and Iran.
Good news, pointed out Minister of Culture and Gender Equality Abid Raja (V) in a Facebook post. He has parents from Pakistan. But he did not like that VG categorized his “ethnicity” as Pakistani in the case.
