The mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, has presented the master lines of its social and economic reactivation and reconstruction plan to alleviate the effects of Covid-19, “the most important that has ever been done in a city in Spain”. It is divided into two parts, a shock plan to act immediately and another for the short-medium term. To make it a reality, the city council intends to mobilize around one billion euros in collaboration with its “allies” Diputación, Zona Franca and central government. The completion of the bike lane, the humanization of Madrid avenue, the remodeling of the Bouzas promenade, the State and Teis libraries or a walk along the Lagares river or the reform of Balaídos, are some of the works that are included in this plan, which will also include measures to support local commerce and the hotel industry, such as the creation of an online platform. Next week the olívico alderman will hold a meeting with the social agents to present the plan with the aim of reaching a great pact. From the opposition, the PP has described this plan as a “rehash” of works already announced without any relation to the covid19.
