Increased risk of attack in the Austrian capital
Policemen in bulletproof vests, helmets and assault rifles guard Vienna. An action is being held in the Austrian capital because of an “increased risk of attack”. The teams are primarily centered around the churches.
The Office for the Protection of the Constitution has received information that indicates an increased risk of an attack, police spokesman Markus Dietrich said on the radio. For this reason, specially equipped police officers are currently patrolling the city.
At the moment, no details are known about the action, BTA clarifies.
The police appeal to citizens not to take photos or videos of the police teams, and if they happen to have taken them, not to distribute them on social media.
