Which parties are on the ballot at the district and municipality level in the Landstraße election?
COUNTRY ROAD. Elections will be held in Vienna on October 11th. Then it will not only be decided who will join the Vienna City Council, but also how the individual district parliaments in Vienna will be filled. It is clear that the big parties will stand for both bodies. But many small parties will also be on the ballot papers on October 11th.
In the Landstrasse, for example, come to the established parties ROD (District Chairman Erich Hohenberger), Green (Top candidate Bora Akcay), ÖVP (Top candidate Ernst Tauschmann), FPÖ (District Vice Werner Grebner) and Neos (Top candidate Maria In der Maur-Koenne) added six other parties or electoral alliances that have collected enough declarations of support to be able to run in the autumn election.
Six small parties
At “Links“The name says it all: The political organization wants to be a left-wing alternative to the SPÖ. Susanne Empacher, who was previously in the Landstraßer district parliament for Wien Anders, is running as the top candidate for the alliance called” Links-KPÖ “in the district. Her demands: Space for public dialogue, intercultural encounters and participation processes from below.
Heinz-Christian Strache wants it with his Team HC Strache know again. He has collected enough declarations of support for the start in all districts – also in Landstrasse, home district of founding member Dietrich Kops. He wants to advocate a general ban on begging at Rochusmarkt and in front of supermarkets, “Volksgaragen” for cheap monthly rents in over-parked neighborhoods and support for private initiatives for green roofs and inner courtyards being unsealed.
The Beer sectionAfter her candidacy in the previous National Council election, i is now also running in the Vienna election. The team around singer Marco Pogo has collected enough signatures in all districts, including the 3rd. The goal: to make Vienna “future-rich” and to become the new Viennese “beer master”.
The European Party “Volt“will also face the choice. Its focus is on empowering citizens to actively shape their districts, sustainable infrastructure concepts for public space and the promotion of culture. In the 3rd district, climate change advisor Lucas Kornexl is in the running.
“Short list” in the race
Also the Social Party Austria of the Future (SÖZ) was able to find enough supporters to compete in the district. Martha Bißmann, the former List Mushroom mandatary and later wild member of the National Council, is the top candidate in Vienna, the candidates in the district had not been determined by the time we went to press.
