Trying to Survive

Last May, the management of Lion Air Group was forced to repay the payment of the Holiday Allowance (THR) for its employees, as a result of the decline in company performance, since the outbreak of the corona virus and the enactment of a Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) in the country.

Danang Mandala Prihantoro, the Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Group, said that Lion Air Group has been in talks with business partners, as well as cutting the income of all management and employees with varying percentage values, the greater the income the greater the nominal value of the deductions. These policies have been implemented and implemented in March, April, May until an undetermined time.

According to Danang, management continues to monitor, collect data and information and learn when the domestic and international aviation industry will operate normally again.

“Lion Air Group member companies decide policies which are considered to be able to maintain the company’s survival. In an effort to maintain the continuity referred to, at a very minimal income condition, due to travel restrictions, only operate 5% of normal capacity before an average of 1,000 flights per day, “said Danang through a written statement received by Indozone on Wednesday (5/20/2020).

Danang said, this year, the Covid-19 pandemic made the aviation industry suspended or did not operate normally domestically and internationally. Meanwhile, the costs to be borne without operating are still large enough, causing very serious difficulties.

“We are still studying the situation that exists to prepare strategies and steps to be taken to maintain the viability of the company, including minimizing (reducing) the burden borne during the Covid-19 pandemic,” concluded Danang.
