VIDEO – Nolan, 4 years overjoyed when the Pégomas firefighters in the Alpes-Maritimes paraded in front of his house

Imagine a 4-year-old boy who, every Friday since the start of containment, intends to pass the firefighters not far from home.
This Pégomas child has the firefighter costume, he plays with small fire trucks, the fire soldiers fascinate him. But each time, Nolan is sad, because the parade is too far away.

Dorian Geoffroy, his father did not hesitate, he contacted the head of the barracks Yann Demaria. On May 1, not one but 6 trucks passed by his house. Nolan still hasn’t come back!

When he knew that the firefighters were going to pass by the house, he was excited. He counted the dodos, and on D-day, he put on his firefighter outfit, he was happy, he talks about it all the time. I admit it was very moving, I had tears in my eyes

explains this dad. He immortalized the moment with a video, shared on the site You know you are from Pégomas if … then by the firefighters and a KissFM animator. Suddenly, the video is buzzing, it is shared and commented, and it’s a great story in this complicated period of confinement and coronavirus.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained

Dorian Geoffroy has lived in Pégomas for 7 years with his wife and Nolan, who will be 5 years old next month.
“I sent a message to the head of the barracks that I didn’t know without really believing in it. Yann Demaria said yes in the minutes that followed. When we are in Pégomas, my son always wants us to make detours in front of the barracks, it’s a real passion “.

The firefighters and a real closeness to the locals

For his part, Yann Demaria reminds that in Pégomas, the 55 firefighters including him are volunteers, that is to say that they have another job in addition to their engagement. They carry out between 1,500 and 2,000 operations per year.

As soon as the containment was established, I saw on social networks that in some municipalities the trucks passed with the sirens in homage to the caregivers. I wanted to do it once a week, with a route indicated the day before. It is important to show our proximity to the population! It reassures the people we help.

Eric Brocardi, from SDIS 06, resumes :

“It happens in small municipalities where the commitment is very strong. It would not be possible in the large coastal municipalities where there are non-stop interventions!”

Rebelotte!

And as happiness never comes alone, Nolan will experience it from the inside on Monday 11 May. He is invited to participate in the parade (with his father) in a real truck.

This time, there will be 8 vehicles, other emotional moments in perspective … Its range is already ready!
