Düsseldorf – The short video of a Düsseldorf ambulance, the crew of which has called self-proclaimed “Corona rebels” over loudspeakers as “crazy”, is causing debates and a wave of solidarity on the Internet. The hashtag #IhrSeidDochSpinner was one of the most used on Friday on Twitter.
In the sequence, which was shared on numerous social media on Thursday, you can see an ambulance with flashing lights and a siren driving past the rally and “You are crazy” can be heard from the loudspeaker.
The Düsseldorf fire brigade confirmed the incident, the video was made last Sunday. “The statement made over the loudspeaker system of the vehicle is inappropriate and does not reflect the professionalism that we expect from all employees,” said the fire brigade on Thursday evening. It was probably a reaction “from a very stressful situation”. The employee could be identified and belongs to a partner organization of the rescue service. There, the matter should be clarified internally.
While the demonstrators complain about the announcement in the video and there are also critical voices on the Internet, a large number of Twitter users stood behind the crew of the ambulance. Many demanded “full solidarity”, or even a salary bonus instead of negative consequences.
