A driver from the Pollos Andino company who was traveling with his food truck, between Bojacá and Facatativá, in Cundinamarca, He threatened cyclists who were circulating around the place with a machete who were claiming him because the man ran over a dog on the road.
The event occurred at one in the afternoon on December 31, 2020, and was released thanks to a video posted on social networks by athletes. In the recording you can see how the seven cyclists complain to the man for having run over the dog, while he whips the asphalt with a machete in an attempt to intimidate them.
“He comes and kills the dog, and we are fighting because he kills the dog, and see this son *** who goes out there to give us all machetes”Explains the woman who records the video, as she watches her colleagues argue with the man, interposing their bicycles to a wheel to protect themselves from him.
Seconds later it is seen how the man with the machete goes to the truck, while his co-worker tried to calm him down. However, both employees stand by the door of the vehicle laughing and with a defiant attitude towards the cyclists.
“They are happy because they kill some dogs. See how the children laugh there.”, Says the same woman, while taking a tour with her camera showing the two workers, and the puppy that died and was lying in the middle of the road.
After the video went viral, and the complaints made by social networks reached the hands of Pollos Andino, the company issued a statement rejecting the events that occurred and the behavior evidenced for now by its two former employees.
“We express our total rejection of the events that took place in the officials, in which the right to life of a pet was violated, and passers-by who complained about the event were verbally attacked and threatened“Said the food company.
The company also highlighted that the two men had acted of their own free will and that none of their actions represented the principles, values and commitments that the entity intended Communicate to society, and that therefore, both had been removed from the company.
“The officials who committed this act withdrew from the organization as soon as the facts became known. (…) The company’s directives immediately took the corrective measures so that the officials linked to such unfortunate events answer for their actions, and also remove the name of Pollo Andino from their deplorable actions”, Stated the company.
Finally, the organization presented its excuses to the people who were affected by the actions of the men, the people who owned the mascot, the cyclists who intervened in the events, and the entire public opinion.
