It is a rare encounter that a driver made in the middle of the night in Haut-Doubs. While returning home, in the town of Montlebon, she comes face to face with four lynxes, a mother and her cubs. The scene, filmed by her, was then posted on social networks by her son, Loïc Bole-Richard, early Sunday afternoon.

The latter then explained to France 3 that his mother had had time to film the felines “10 to 15 seconds before they enter the forest”. “It’s totally unexpected and that’s why I wanted to share the video”, he justified. It was the first time that this inhabitant had such an encounter.
Indeed, the boreal lynx population is very small in France and the species is classified as “in danger”, on the French Red List of Endangered Species from the World Conservation Union (IUCN). In the Jura, there would be a hundred individuals according to the site of Ferus, the national association for the defense and protection of large predators.
