Very important discovery of James Webb! Carbon dioxide found on an exoplanet

Study of the atmosphere on an exoplanet by the James Webb Telescope

The US Aerospace Agency’s (NASA) James Webb Space Telescope has imaged the atmosphere of an exoplanet in detail.

As reported on the NASA website, the atmosphere of the exoplanet “WASP-39b”, 700 light years away, was examined thanks to the James Webb Space Telescope.

With the help of images recorded by the James Webb Telescope, the atmospheric components of the exoplanet were profiled and numerous components were detected, including sulfur dioxide.

Thus, NASA has shared an unprecedented view of an exoplanet’s atmosphere.

On August 26, carbon dioxide was detected for the first time in the atmosphere of the exoplanet “WASP-39b”, located outside the Solar System.

SATURN SIZE

According to AA news; WASP-39b, which is said to have a mass close to Saturn, is one-third the size of Jupiter.

NASA launched the world’s largest and most advanced space telescope, James Webb, into space on December 25, 2021.

The result of NASA’s collaboration with European and Canadian space agencies, Webb is seen as the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope, which is the largest and most powerful but is 31 years old and nearing the end of its useful life.
