All ready for the traditional Macy’s parade

The giant balloons featured in the 96th Annual Macy’s Parade this Thursday, Thanksgiving, are ready.

The Castaño Gámez family arrived very early to see how they inflate them.

“We have a tradition of always seeing it on television, but this time we brought the children to see it in person,” says José Castaño

The family is visiting from San Antonio, Texas and they say their dream of seeing huge balloons inflated with helium for their little ones has finally come true.

“We are super excited, we have been here for several days, but the truth is that this is to top it off, we are very happy,” added his wife Jane Gámez.

The decorated floats, bands, bells and balloons featuring iconic character designs will travel through Central Park West and directly to television screens across the country, Macy’s spokesperson Orlando Veras told us.

“They are so loved by the public because they are characters who have been seen for a lifetime, they are characters who know their grandparents, they know little children, everyone has a favorite ball, that’s why this day seeing them so close up is so beautiful,” commented Orlando Veras.

This year, new characters joining the parade include a Minion, a green dinosaur with its babies, and a new “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” balloon, as well as a special red heart honoring Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny, among others.

It should be noted that the city has a robust security operation in place to safeguard order and peace of spectators, likewise additional security cameras have been enabled to monitor the tour.

It is important to bear in mind that those who decide to participate will not be able to use bulky backpacks, refrigerators, alcoholic beverages, chairs and umbrellas, participants will have to go to the checkpoints before accessing the event.

More than three million people are expected to attend the popular event that traditionally kicks off the holiday season, starting at 8:45 a.m. at 77th Street and Central Park West and heading up 34th Street to Macy’s Herald Square where it will close with a show artistic.
