Veronika Žilková’s Intimate Confessions: Breaking up, Success, and Family

Breaking up by email… There has never been such a topic in the domestic show business. Today, Veronika Žilková says with a smile that her places are where her children are. And she just took the staff on them My Places show. You can see exactly where and what her children and eldest grandson revealed about her on Television Seznam on Tuesday, November 21 from 10:15 p.m.

But you can watch Veronica’s Intimate Confessions exclusively in advance. She talks about how she dealt with the breakup, how the audience helps her, what her son (an actor and director) advised her, what she is after her father… Read a selection from her confession.

Pretty. Vinca says: “Our mom is young for the second time.” He is terribly excited about my current life, how I go to concerts, go dancing. He claims, “Mom, you’ve never smiled as much as you do now.”

You are currently preparing a stand-up show with your son Vincent called How I Got Football Boots. Do you want to turn that unpleasant experience into something crazy?

I almost don’t know what you’re talking about anymore. Stand-up is the invention of Vincent, who has a show with his three friends comically and goes around the entire republic with it. I think I’ve tried everything in the acting profession, Vincent says it’s time I should tell the audience that it’s possible to start again and much more cheerfully. That a reboot can be great. But the title was just working, we switched to “On the Crossing” – from one side to the other like the Beatles.

You give your followers a lot with your popular “workout”. What do they give you?

My Instagram exercise was created in the time of covid, I have ninety one thousand people there. I experience situations where I am dragging a box into the car and a young man offers to help me. I protested that I wasn’t an old woman, and he said, “No, you’re my trainer.” He said her back was broken.

How I have a ruined back from the theater, where the lights wash over you from one side, the wind blows from the other side, you stand towards the audience and at the same time turn into a propeller during a dialogue with colleagues! So I have my own system of yoga, pilates and rehabilitation exercises. And when a thirty-year-old boy tells you that your exercises are helping him, you can’t help but be happy.

The trainees and the audience helped you even after the breakup…

That’s when I gained a lot of new viewers, because love comes with pain. Women would come up to me and say, “It happened to me too. Thanks to you, I didn’t commit suicide.” When this happens to you a hundred times, you think that must be why it happened to you. Even men write how life has trained them. It’s nice that I’m already at the stage where I’m a role model for them on how to overcome it. That’s why Vincent came up with the stand-up. He said, “Hey, mom, you have to!”

Are you interested in Veronika Žilková’s Intimate Confession?

You will learn more than in this article: What her children are after her and what she tries to stop them from doing. When did she think that after her stay in Israel, where she fulfilled the duties of the ambassador’s wife, “nothing will happen”. Why does she think, with hindsight, that it is not very good to make a hen house for the family, and what will she do to keep from telling her future daughters-in-law.

Family has always been important to you. At the same time, you wanted to go to the monastery…

Just yesterday I was driving past the castle of Černíkovice, where during grammar school I spent my holidays with religious sisters, they worked as nurses in the social welfare institute for youth. I worked there as an auxiliary medical staff for hospitalized children with mental disabilities. I wanted to be a missionary who helps people, and in covid I realized that I did not deviate from my idea.

A lot of people wrote me how mine helped them autobiographical book Divide by two, they took her to the hospital, for example, they sent me their personal stories. Because it helps a person when something bad happens to him and he finds out that he is not alone. That the lady they know from TV lost a child and another was seriously ill. Cyril was the first child in the world to live with a transplanted diaphragm, today he is 33 and does stage readings and sells coffee, despite his education. So I think I fulfilled my mission, I was lighting the torch, I was hinting where to go.

Whenever someone is sick, we as a family huddle together, climb into bed, scream and eat crisps. Of course we are not helping, but the person in question must know that he has people around him who love him…

She didn’t fulfill any, you always fulfill her!

I am fulfilling. Of course, last year I was looking for a tree to swing from, but now I thank life that I got a level higher. Like getting a new key in Boyard’s Fort. Meanwhile, I’m already retired!

Did you jump right into work after returning from Israel? The directors were like, “Huh, Veronika’s back?”

At this age, it’s not like your phone doesn’t stop. But one of the first offers was on the movie Together and that was one of the most beautiful scripts I’ve ever read. About a mother with a son with autism, played by Štěpán Kozub. I was happy that such a difficult subject had a high attendance in cinemas and won a festival in England.

You got a prize too, honey. The story is also about how a mother divides her attention between a sick and a healthy child… Did you speak into the script – as a mother of your own children, in foster care, healthy and sick?

The same thing happened to me when Agátka was four years old and Cyril was born, with whom I lived for a year after intensive care units – he underwent six operations. I simply discriminated against Agatha, I had to push her away, because it was not possible to combine it in time or physically. “Mom, I’d like to go on a pilgrimage.” “We can’t, Cyril doesn’t have immunity.” “Mom, I’d like to invite a friend.” “We can’t, Cyril doesn’t have immunity.”

You don’t do it on purpose, I love all children equally, but at a certain time the weaker child needs attention and the other one hates him. She had already forgiven him, she understood – just yesterday she was in his cafe in Slané with all her children. Cyril teaches her Spanish and is godfather to her daughter Mia. They like each other.

That’s why I asked if you interfered a little with your experience in the scenario…

Certainly. When journalists asked me how I prepared for this role, I told them: “I’ve been preparing for the entire forty years that I’ve been a mother.”

Stella Zázvorková used to say: “Václav Žilka and Veronika Žilková are Martians.” We probably fell here from somewhere. This energy is from my dad, my mom wasn’t like that. But Dad was an absolute mess. We really enjoy life. There are times when you are able to turn this enormous power against yourself, but the family is there to remind you that you have to help yourself and not destroy yourself. And this happens so much in our family, that whenever someone is sick, we get down, climb into bed, scream and eat crisps. Of course we are not helping, but the person in question needs to know that he has people around him who love him.

I now have a great friend who is from Moravia, and since my parents are from Moravia, I understood that it doesn’t really matter where you are born, that Moravian blood is not water.

Friend or partner?

I don’t have a partner and I never want to have one.

I tried it three times. And not anymore. I don’t want a husband or a partner… But friends, why not? And if there is one, I will be only happy.

Intimate confessions: Veronika Žilková

Favorite book? I don’t read. Favorite music? That’s where my taste developed and classical music became rock. Favorite food? What I can’t eat. Drinking? Probably red wine. Favorite evening? At home. Favorite holiday? Which I don’t have to go to. All year I travel criss-crossing the Czech Republic with the theater, so I really like being home and my dream vacation is at home. Your biggest embarrassment? I make a living from awkwardness, acting is basically about being able to use awkwardness to entertain others, that’s the meaning of acting. So embarrassment is an asset to me. Biggest trouble? My personal tragedy. The best investment? To my beloved children.
