The 37-year-old mother who, at noon on Tuesday (9/1), killed her 6-month-old baby by beating him to death inside her home, in Makrohori, Veria, is reportedly facing serious psychiatric problems.
The family tragedy unfolded in front of the eyes of her two minor daughters, aged 6 and 7, who informed the grandparents about the tragic incident. The mother is being held at the Veria Police Station in a state of shock and appears to not even realize what she has done.
According to information, the 37-year-old reportedly told her parents, who opened the door and saw their infant seriously injured and their granddaughters screaming, that she did not kill him but some “invisible” force…
A neighbor of the family talks to protothema.gr about the problems faced by the 37-year-old, speaking of a psychological situation that was burdened as soon as her ex-partner left her while she was pregnant.

“The girl had problems. I had her as a customer in the shop and after she gave birth she also suffered from mild depression. That was why she had come here, to her mother. Before, he lived in Giannitsa. Now lately she has been renting near her mother and sister.
He had long-standing problems. She had divorced and was left with the two children. Then she met someone else, got pregnant but he left her too. After that her condition worsened. She was like lost” says the resident of Makrohori who knows the family of the 37-year-old.
When the grandparents arrived home, they found the child with serious injuries and transported him unconsciously to the Veria hospital.
The infant was severely injured and had no pulse. Despite the superhuman efforts of the doctors, he did not succeed and ended. A team of police officers from the Veria Security Department rushed to the scene and arrested the mother for homicide.
EL.AS is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the death of the 6-year-old baby. The autopsy results are expected to shed light on the case.
