Hard not to think about many cases of mutilated horses discovered in recent months in France, and for which more than 150 investigations have been opened. In Vendee, last February, in the town of Girouard (between Les Sables-d’Olonne and La Roche-sur-Yon), the Demon du Médoc trotter, seven years old, was found dead, his ear mutilated. At the time, only one similar case had been mentioned, a few days earlier, in Moselle.
Are the facts of La Ferrière to be linked to these mysterious mutilations of equines which terrorize many horse owners? The La Roche-sur-Yon prosecutor is cautious: “There is no mutilation here. But it is far too early to draw any conclusions. ” An investigation is open “For attacks and acts of cruelty to an animal”.
