“We demand, uphold the rule of law, reject the proposed amendment to the Constitution, reject the Omnibus Law, revoke Law No. 19 of 2019, reject the abolition of subsidized fuel and urge Jokowi to complete the handling of Covid-19,” said an orator.

Meanwhile, the police have been monitoring the demonstration since noon.

So far, the authorities are still trying to be persuasive so that students can disperse and reopen road access. Students have not been paying attention so traffic jams occur.

In a different place, various student organizations surrounded the South Sulawesi DPRD office on Jalan Urip Sumohardjo, Makassar City, South Sulawesi.

Students demanded President Joko Widodo not to weaken the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

They also demanded the president to immediately evaluate the performance of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, which was considered not working optimally.

“Removed the Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasona Laoly and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD. For failing to provide legal guarantees and protection as well as settlement of past human rights cases,” said Ewaldo Azis, a student who joined the demonstration with loudspeakers.

In addition, students also urged the government to accelerate the transformation and reform of the National Police to ensure that everyone’s right to freedom of expression and opinion is guaranteed.

“Immediately resolve the problems of past human rights violations and try the perpetrators through a human rights court in a fair and transparent manner,” said Ewaldo.
