Veils only end up somewhere. They will remain in the metro in Prague, the north of Moravia will tighten the measures

“In Prague, we see a risk at larger events and in the metro, so we will keep measures in the form of veils here as well,” Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES) announced on Monday. On the other hand, according to him, it is safe to say that Prague is stable. “We have ten or twenty cases a day, so from this point of view we want to maintain the measures, but it is by no means essential,” Vojtěch added.

“The reproduction number for Prague shows a slight improvement in the situation – it is currently around 1. The number of newly diagnosed people is declining, in Prague the situation is stable. In the Moravian-Silesian Region, the reproduction number is 1.5, “said Ladislav Dušek, Director of the Institute of Health Information and Statistics. According to him, the area reproduction number due to the low number of cases in most regions no longer makes sense for the evaluation of the current situation.

Due to the greater spread of covid-19 in part of the Moravian-Silesian Region, the state will tighten measures in the Karviná and Frýdek-Místek regions from Tuesday. For example, it will ban visits to hospitals and social facilities or limit participation in mass events from 500 people to a maximum of 100. The restriction also applies to swimming pools. The working hours of catering services or nightclubs and discos are also being reduced. You will need to be closed from 11pm to 8am.

It will still be necessary to keep two meters between the tables and a maximum of 4 people can sit at one table.

“We are directing all the forces of hygienists to the Moravian-Silesian region, especially to the Karviná region. The latest jump in positive cases is again related to this local outbreak. They are mainly due to the massive testing of the miners’ contacts and, unfortunately, also the indiscipline of the citizens, “said Minister of Health Vojtěch on Monday. According to him, some people attend mass events or celebrations, even if they have symptoms.

The virus will not disappear in the population

“Most of the new cases are asymptomatic, which is good in terms of the burden on the health care system, but not for the possible further spread of the disease,” said Chief Hygienist Jarmila Rážová. She again called on citizens to be responsible.

In addition, in the entire Moravian-Silesian Region, even after the measures are relaxed from 1 July, in the rest of the country, mandatory curtains will remain inside buildings, in public transport or at public events. Cross-border workers across the region will then have to submit covid-19 tests to employers.

The spread of the disease is not widespread, the director of the Institute of Health Information and Statistics Ladislav Dušek also pointed out at the press conference.

“The occurrence of local outbreaks, however, proves that the coronavirus will not disappear in the population and we will have to learn to live with it for a long time. The growth of new patients is related to known localities, where massive testing takes place and we have a high number of seizures, “he added.

Traffic light update

At the press conference, Vojtěch also mentioned travel. “The Silesian Voivodeship has moved to the green zone, there will be no need for tests or quarantines, and also the United Kingdom. On the contrary, Sweden remains in the red zone, Portugal has moved from the red to the orange zone, “said the minister.

There were 305 new cases of coronavirus in the Czech Republic on Sunday. For the fourth time since the beginning of the epidemic, the daily increase was higher than 300, the last time it happened on April 3. The current increase is probably related to extensive testing in the Karviná region and in the mining company OKD.

On Thursday, 93 more were infected, 168 on Friday and 260 on Saturday. According to the Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES), this is not the second wave of the epidemic.
