Vector could be saved from digital death

You will remember it for sure: Anki wanted to teach children and adults with small robots like Cozmo and Vector how to program – there was also a racetrack called Anki Overdrive. As a play child I tried it all, of course, nothing really picked me up – and neither did my son. It was announced in April 2019: the company shuts down, 200 employees unfortunately lost their jobs.

Now one signs of life – at least when it comes to the Vector robot. In short: Digital Dream Labs has acquired rights and content from Anki. This also includes the necessary cloud servers. So users should not worry that they can simply be switched off and the robots become so worthless.

They also want to start a Kickstarter project. One of the goals: An update that makes those cloud servers unnecessary. The software should also become open source or an SDK should be provided.

Is there really anyone interested? I am sceptical.
