Valentino Rossi considered to have handed the baton to Fabio Quartararo from the results in MotoGP Andalusia then, after they both went to the podium.
At the Jerez circuit last weekend, Rossi completed the Andalusian MotoGP in third position. Since finishing second in Austin in April 2019, only this time again winning nine world championships, the grand prix motor racing was on the podium again.
Meanwhile, the top podium is controlled by Fabio Quartararo, who repeated his achievement on the first podium in the same place a week before, when he won the Spanish MotoGP. That is two wins since his debut in MotoGP last season.
The Andalusian MotoGP results at the same time confirmed Yamaha’s dominance with the presence of Maverick Vinales in second place. Rossi and Vinales are Yamaha factory team riders while Quartararo defends the Yamaha satellite team, Petronas Yamaha SRT.
For Luca Cadalora, a three-time grand prix world champion (in the 125cc and 250cc classes), the moment was like Valentino Rossi who was handing over his baton in the world of racing to Fabio Quartararo. Especially at Yamaha.
“Yes, he did exactly that,” Cadalora said answering the question GPOne.
“At the moment Vinales is under pressure due to Fabio’s presence despite being in a different team, so I don’t think he will be in good condition next year,” he said.
Judging by the current pace of Fabio Quartararo, Luca Cadalora even wished he could continue to win after victory and become world champion MotoGP 2020.
“We also have to see the possibility of witnessing something extraordinary: Quartararo can win the world title on a satellite team. I don’t remember when that ever happened,” Cadalora said.
With a win in the opening series in the Spanish MotoGP, Fabio Quartararo became the first rider from the Yamaha satellite team to take the top podium. He now leads the MotoGP standings for a while, 10 points ahead of Vinales. Valentino Rossi is in sixth position.
