Vaccination has had a massive influx, especially of children

A significant number of people visited Mariscal Santa Cruz park yesterday, where mobile brigades have been set up as part of the Vaccinatón-Todos en Acción campaign. It has been noted that more children have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and other diseases.

The activity that began yesterday will continue until December 16 in 30 health facilities in the Cercado. As a result, 400 health officials were displaced, as well as mobile brigades in remote areas.

The government’s health secretary, Daysi Rocabado, described the activity as positive, especially due to the massive participation of children, who received a lottery ticket as an incentive.

“Any vaccine that (the person) has has the option of a ticket. We have vaccines for the little ones from six months to five years, measles vaccine, tetanus vaccine, human papilloma, our whole scheme available to the population,” Rocabado said.

For his part, Mayor Manfred Reyes Villa has indicated that the new strains won’t be as dangerous if everyone is vaccinated against all diseases or viruses.

“We are running a campaign in which the population will receive rewards, just for having received the vaccine, as it is a way of encouraging people to take care of their health. I ask the Cochabamba family to come and get vaccinated, we need to get vaccinated not only against Covid, but to protect ourselves from other diseases,” Reyes said.

The Vaccinatón-Todos en Acción campaign aims to increase coverage of the regular Expanded Immunization Program (PAI) to 95 percent for children under five, girls of age to receive the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine , the seasonal flu, and the vaccine that protects against diphtheria and tetanus (DT).

Meanwhile, the head of Epidemiology of the Departmental Health Service (Headquarters), Rubén Castillo, indicated that these activities serve for people to go to authorized centers and points and increase the vaccination program.

“We continue to maintain 73.9% in the first dose, 63% in the second and 26% in the third. We want these assets to be used to increase these doses by at least a third, to reach 50 percent,” Castillo said.

The fifth dose of the vaccine is expected to start in January 2023.
