Girls’ Generation, who recently released their 7th full-length album ‘Forever 1’ to commemorate the 15th anniversary of their debut, gathered a hot topic. However, in the music video for ‘Forever 1’, there was a sudden controversy over design theft, and in the end, director Shin Hee-won, who directed the music video, acknowledged this and offered an apology.

Director Shin on the 14th Instagram“First of all, I am sorry for the set design controversy in some of Girls’ Generation’s ‘Forever1’ music video that put pressure on the Girls’ Generation members and SM Entertainment. Under the circumstances, I am only ashamed and sorry for borrowing a design without permission.”

He continued, “I searched for a number-related logo design to be used in the 15th anniversary parade set, and found several references (reference materials). We have confirmed that it is the 15th anniversary logo of DisneySea, and we sincerely apologize for designing the set without thorough investigation or confirmation.”

Director Shin said, “We will investigate and check more thoroughly from various angles before production to ensure that such a thing does not happen again. Once again, I would like to express my sincere apologies.”

On the other hand, director Shin Hee-won worked with EXO, Red Velvet, SHINee, Seventeen, Hyuna, and BTOB, and was responsible for directing the music video for the title song ‘Forever1′ on Girls’ Generation’s 7th full-length album. However, after the music video was released on the 5th, Japanese netizens and others raised controversy through SNS, saying that the emblem of Girls’ Generation’s 15th anniversary in the music video was similar to the emblem of DisneySea, a theme park in Tokyo, Japan.
