WASHINGTON, May 13 (Reuters) – U.S. Defense Secretary LLoyd Austin called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine on Friday during a call with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the Pentagon said.
The Secretary of Defense also stressed the importance of maintaining communication between the two countries.
This is the first time since Feb. 18 that Lloyd Austin has spoken with Sergei Shoigu, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in a statement.
