Jan. 5 (Reuters) – At least 13 people died in a fire in a Philadelphia house with several apartments on Wednesday, officials in the eastern United States of Pennsylvania reported.
Seven children were killed, firefighters said, while eight residents were able to escape the flames. The smoke detectors in the home did not work, they added.
Firefighters arrived at the scene in the Fairmount neighborhood at around 6:40 a.m. (11:40 a.m. GMT) and fought the blaze for about 50 minutes. (Report Katharine Jackson; French version Jean-Stphane Brosse)
