USA have allowed their airlines to operate in the Flight Information Region (FIR) Simferopol (UKFV), according to the Notice to the United States Civil Aviation Administration (FAA). The notice will be officially published on Friday and will take effect on October 27, it posted on Thursday for review on the website of the US Federal Register. The FAA said that the lifting of the ban, which has been in force for a number of years, does not mean the recognition of Crimea as part of Russia. The agency also claims that while Moscow supports “competing (with Ukrainian) air navigation service providers,” “Ukraine has demonstrated that it still intends to take the necessary measures to reduce remaining flight safety risks in the flight information area of Simferopol.” “The FAA estimates that these actions have sufficiently mitigated the threat to civil aviation operating on air routes over the Black Sea to allow US civilian flights to resume operations on these routes, “the statement said.
