The New York Stock Exchange closed lower on Wednesday after a trend reversal when New York City announced the closure of its schools due to the resurgence of Covid-19.
The Dow Jones Index fell 1.16% to 29,438.42 points and the S&P 500 Index also fell 1.16% to 3,567.79 points. The Nasdaq, with a higher technological component, fell 0.82% to 11,801.60 points.
The day before, the Dow Jones had lost 0.56%, the S&P 500 0.48% and the Nasdaq was down 0.21%.
The New York Stock Exchange went into the red as soon as the city’s mayor announced the closure of public schools.
