United States of America (AS) on Saturday (16/12) released a statement repeating its warning to North Korea that a nuclear attack on them would result in ‘the end of the Kim regime’.

The joint statement by the US-South Korea Nuclear Consultation Group also reiterated that any nuclear attack by North Korea against South Korea ‘will be met with a swift, overwhelming and decisive response’.

“The United States reiterates its firm commitment to provide broader deterrence against the ROK (Republic of South Korea) supported by all US capabilities including nuclear,” wrote a statement released by the White House, reported by AFP.

US President Joe Biden also issued a similar warning in April. He said any nuclear attack by North Korea would ‘result in the end of the government’.

Five months earlier, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned that a nuclear attack from the country led by Kim Jong Un against the US or its allies would mean ‘the end of the Kim regime’.

North Korea last year declared itself an ‘irreversible’ nuclear power and has repeatedly said it would never give up its nuclear program, which is considered vital to North Korea’s survival.

Last month North Korea successfully put a military spy satellite into orbit. Since then, they have claimed that their eye in the sky has provided images of major US and South Korean military sites.
