US President Donald Trump was officially sworn in by the Republican Party on Monday as a candidate for re-election in the November 3 presidential election.
Unsurprisingly, the 330 or so Grand Old Party delegates gathered in Charlotte, North Carolina, nominated the president as their candidate on the first day of the Republican convention.
One by one, the Republican representatives of each of the 50 American states, beginning in alphabetical order with Alabama, announced their support for the president. The threshold of the 1,276 votes needed to win the nomination was crossed shortly after noon.
