NEW YORK, iNews.id – Two Fifth Fleet coastal patrol boats Navy (AL) United States of America (US) confiscates vessels loaded with illegal weapons. Thousands of weapons and ammunition were confiscated.
The fishing vessel without a national flag was arrested during a flag verification check in the North Arabian Sea, Monday (12/20/2021). In inspection, there are 1,400 assault rifle IF 47 and 226,600 rounds of ammunition seized.
“The stateless ship is judged to have originated in Iran and transited in international waters along a route historically used to illegally trade arms to the Houthis in Yemen,” the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet said in a statement Wednesday (12/22/2021).
For information, direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer of arms to the Houthi movement violates UN Security Council resolutions and US sanctions.
