US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday refused to recognize Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election, promising a “smooth transition” to a “second” mandate from Donald Trump.

When asked about the steps the State Department has taken to speed up the transition with Biden’s teams, Pompeo said, “There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration.”
The comment may have been a joke, but it fueled the president’s unproven claims that the November 3 elections were fraudulent.
“The world must be confident” that the Jan. 20 transition will be successful, Pompeo said in response to a reporter’s question about Joe Biden’s election victory. “We are done, the world is watching what is happening here. We are going to count all votes. ”
Echoing President Trump’s repeated position that he would be the winner if only “legal votes” were counted, Pompeo said, “I am confident that we will count, and we must count, every legal vote. We must be sure that any vote that was not legal is not counted. If we do it right, we will do it right. ”
