Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The United States (US) is reported to have helped Ukraine in the war against Russia using their intelligence. This assistance was mainly given when Ukraine managed to sink a Russian warship in April.
Citing CNN International, the assistance was provided when Ukraine spotted a Russian warship in the Black Sea last month. After that, Ukraine confirmed its findings to the US, and the United States gave the exact location of the ship.
Ukraine managed to sink a Russian warship on April 14 last, and made Russian troops lose large combat power as a result. Sources say the US was not involved in Ukraine’s decision-making at that time.
This fact strengthens the suspicion of many who see the US government under the Joe Biden regime actively using its intelligence to help Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
The US has for months been providing Ukrainian troops with information from intelligence on Russian movements there, including intercepted communications about Russian military planning. It also provides Ukraine with maritime awareness information to enable them to better understand the threat posed by Russian ships in the Black Sea.
However, the US is reportedly reluctant to provide Ukraine with information about potential targets inside Russia. The US has not provided Ukraine with intelligence on the whereabouts of certain Russian military leaders.
“We do not provide intelligence about the location of senior military leaders on the battlefield or participate in decisions on targeting the Ukrainian military,” Pentagon press secretary John Kirby told reporters.
“Ukraine combines the information we and other partners provide with the intelligence they collect on the battlefield, and then they make their own decisions, and they take their own actions,” he added.
