Urges the IMSS to get checked to prevent breast cancer

La Paz, BCS.-During the month of October, the month of Awareness Against Breast Cancer was commemorated, a disease that affects mainly women, but also men.

In this sense, the Auxiliary Coordinator in Public Health, Diana Erika Gómez Campos, commented that preventive care must be constant and not sporadic, for which she urged both women and men to continue with their corresponding check-ups month after month from House.

To prevent breast cancer, the specialist recommended eating a balanced diet high in fiber, including broccoli, chard, spinach, mushrooms, grapes and papaya.

As well as, reduce the consumption of sugars and fats; exercise at least 30 minutes a day, maintain an adequate weight, avoid cigarettes and alcohol.

He commented that the monthly breast self-examination should be performed from the age of 20, preferably on the fifth day of menstruation.

Likewise, from the age of 34, a mammogram should be requested if the patient has a family history of the disease. If they are not available, it must be done every two years starting at age 40, and every year upon reaching 50 years of age.

During the health emergency, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Baja California Sur urged both women and men to self-explore from home, the process is simple and vital so that if you have an abnormal situation in your chest, you can detect it in time and go to the corresponding Family Medicine Unit.

Diana Erika Gómez said that not all women who suffer from breast cancer die, since if it is detected in time and the corresponding treatment is carried out, there is a survival of more than five years in most of the patients.
