Unvaccinated people will be able to go to the US if they have a vaccination appointment – Telemundo San Diego (20)

TIJUANA – Today customs and border protection confirmed to TELEMUNDO 20 that whoever has received the CansinoBio vaccine and has a formal appointment with a doctor or in an establishment to receive their vaccine in the United States, will be able to cross the border, this in the midst of the controversy that There are hundreds of people in Mexico who until today have not been able to cross because they have a different vaccine than those authorized by the CDC.

REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAVELERS TO THE USA

“Essential travel is allowed, just like before November 8 (regardless of vaccination status). Essential travel includes traveling for medical purposes, even if you already have an appointment scheduled to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, ”a CBP spokesperson in San Diego told TELEMUNDO20.

The TELEMUNDO20 team also asked Customs and Border Protection if those who had this vaccine should do it in a formal medical institution or could do it anywhere in the American Union, and they responded.

After almost 20 months of non-essential travel, the border was reopened.

“Yes, a medical appointment (even if it is at a pharmacy clinic, like a CVS MinuteClinic),” the CBP spokesperson told TELEMUNDO20.

A situation that relieved thousands of teachers in Baja California, who until today experienced the controversy of not knowing if they could cross.

“But if we can cross, we just have the appointment that we are going to get vaccinated in the United States, but we return to the same thing, there is no real indication of our authority, that there is much speculation,” said Sujey Mendívil, director of COBACH high school in Tijuana.

On the second day of the reopening of the San Diego border with Tijuana

From the city, you can feel the despair of the teachers, who until today, were unaware that they could make an appointment to get another vaccine in the United States.

“We cannot cross over to visit our relatives, not so much to go shopping that we know is an important or valid point, but to go visit our relatives,” explained Sujey Mendívil.

The state health secretary said at the time there was no evidence that combining doses of COVID-19 would have negative effects on individuals.

On both sides of the border, the end of restrictions on the US-Mexico border was celebrated.

“There is no scientific information that alerts us to what impact the combination of two vaccines that were made with a different biological mechanism may have,” said Adrián Medina Amarillas, secretary of health in Baja California.

What made many like Mariana, anticipate the warning of the authorities and apply a vaccine like Pfizer, there was hardly a chance.

“Vaccination itself is worrying and more when you are going to mix pharmaceuticals, however, my doctor’s recommendation was that there was no problem, that a third dose scheme could already work and that it would not have any side effect which to date I have not had, ”said Marina Sánchez, who lives in Tijuana.

Well, the new health secretary, confirmed to TELEMUNDO20, in Mexico there is still no plan to give another vaccine to teachers who were vaccinated with Cansino.

“At the moment there is no plan, but rather I believe that the most correct way will be to see before the secretary of foreign relations, see if the United States allows them to cross, verifying that they have that complete vaccination scheme with that biological,” added Adrián Medina Yellow

Meanwhile, those who got another dose like Mariana, he says, have already crossed into San Diego twice since the restrictions ended.

“I feel good to have my vaccination certificate, with a vaccine that is recognized in more than one country, not only in the United States but in the European Union and in Asia, it makes crossing a lot easier for me, I don’t have to worry because the line it was immediate, the crossing was immediate, ”said Marina Sánchez.

Part of a life on the border that he has experienced all his life and that the pandemic for almost two years took away from him.

Teachers today said they expect a definitive plan from the authorities on both sides to know how and when to apply a vaccine that all authorities approve and also protect them against COVID-19.
