UNOS Makes Four Motions in Vienna Economic Parliament for Small Business Support

UNOS with four motions in the Vienna Economic Parliament – demand for support for small businesses

Vienna (OTS) – “In these times of crisis, we are particularly committed to supporting small companies, but a coalition of inhibitors made up of the Economic Association, the Social Democratic Business Association and the Free Economy rejected our applications,” said UNOS federal spokesman Michael Bernhard, commenting on the session of the Vienna Economic Parliament on May 17, 2023. UNOS have submitted four applications, one of which is an urgent application to abolish the ORF contribution for companies. Although this motion was approved in the Economic Parliament, it was ultimately rejected. The UNOS applications for a cost-of-living premium for entrepreneurs, for measures to counter the dwindling number of apprentices and for the establishment of a Chamber of Commerce health fund for entrepreneurs were also rejected.

“Entrepreneurship is the most important backbone of our economy, but economic policy seems to forget the numerous small businesses and one-person businesses”, according to Bernhard. UNOS are therefore committed to these small companies and are against the expansion of ORF fees to an additional 100,000 companies. In addition, UNOS called for the inflation premium to be extended to entrepreneurs.

“The fact that the Chamber of Commerce continues to sit on its reserves instead of giving them to its members is particularly annoying,” comments the UNOS federal spokesman on the rejection of the UNOS application to set up a “Chamber of Commerce Health Fund”. This was intended to expand support services for the self-employed in the event of illness. Bernhard expresses his incomprehension about the massive shortage of workers about the rejection of the application for the implementation of the UNOS package of measures to make teaching more attractive.
