In any case, someone had the self-control to leave the plastic, because last Friday an unopened copy of Super Mario Bros. to NES under the club on Heritage Auctions, where it brought in a net 4.2 million kronor, or $ 660,000.
It is thus the most expensive game sale in world history – a title previously held by one exemplar of Super Mario Bros 3. The version that was sold in the days, however, is not only the oldest sealed copy to be sold, but also from an edition that was produced for a very short time just before 1987.
If you just missed the auction and really want to own this item, however, the hope is not out, because the new owner is considering bids. However, expect to have to open your wallets wide open for a change of ownership to become relevant.
