Unlike Covid-19, this is how the Monkeypox Virus is transmitted

JAKARTA, celebrities.id – Not long ago the people of Indonesia were shocked by the virus monkey pox or better known as monkeypox. Many people associate this monkey pox with Covid-19.

There is actually a very clear difference between monkeypox and Covid-19. In Covid-19, people who have been exposed but have no symptoms can still transmit the virus to others. However, in monkeypox this is not the case.

“In the case of monkeypox, the new virus will spread to other people if the patient has shown symptoms. If there are no symptoms, the virus will not be transmitted to other people,” he said. Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin to media colleagues in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/7/2022).

This happens because the transmission of the monkeypox virus is dominated by close contact and direct contact. The new virus will be transferred to people through the fluid from monkeypox lesions.

“Most of the transmission of monkeypox is through the fluid of the monkeypox lesions. So, transmission of the new virus will occur if there is close contact between the patient and other people,” he said.

Minister of Health Budi continued, with the characteristics of the disease, the surveillance team would be very easy to prevent the spread. Because the spread of the virus through the physical that can be seen by the eyes directly the lesions on the patient’s skin. The public is also asked to remain calm because the government already has the ability to detect the monkeypox virus. Indonesia already has a PCR kit and has purchased 500 reagents to test the monkeypox virus.

“This means that even if the case is found in Indonesia, we already have the ability to detect the monkeypox virus. As many as 1,100 PCR laboratories are certainly competent to carry out monkeypox testing,” said Minister of Health Budi.
