Taking into account that it is the faculty that has admitted the most first-year Medicine students in all of Spain, and that it is the only one in all of Galicia, “which requires that we be totally committed to the training of health professionals in our community” , the rector of the University of Santiago, Antonio Lópezthis Tuesday highlighted the creation of ten new associate professor positions in the field of Health Sciences for clinical teaching in the different health areas of Galicia, established in the agreement signed between the University of Santiago de Compostela and the Galician Health Service.
A collaboration agreement by which the regional administration undertakes to allocate 152,704 euros from this year until 2026, and subsequently the university will be responsible for financing them.

After remembering that this initiative represents a continuation of the line of collaboration that began in 2020 between Sergas and the USC, through which eight new professor positions were created associated with the hospital centers in the health areas of Ferrol and Pontevedra-Salnés, in addition to those of primary care in Santiago and Barbanza, with an investment of 70,000 euros, Comesaña highlighted that the main novelty of this new call is that “for the first time this year, the Medicine students will have a professor who teaches theoretical medicine classes. “family”, linked in this case to the Concepción Arenal outpatient clinic, and another contracted teaching doctor for Internal Medicine linked to the CHUS is also included.
