Fernando Alonso recovers 7th place in the United States Grand Prix. The appeal filed by his Alpine team was upheld in the second instance, Formula 1 announced.
Alonso had received a 30-second “Stop and Go” penalty for driving without right wing mirror after the accident with Lance Stroll, following a protest from the Haas team. He had thus dropped to 15th place.
The race stewards overturned the decision after Sunday’s race, as they ultimately determined that Haas’ protest had not been taken in time. Alpine’s first appeal was dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
