United Kingdom extends lockdown by at least three weeks NOW

The UK lockdown will be extended by at least three weeks. British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab announced this on Thursday evening.

According to Raab, the number of infections has not yet gone down as much as it should. The lockdown in the country, which applies from March 23, is therefore still at least three weeks.

According to the minister, there are indications that the measures taken seem to work in certain places, but the results are still too inconsistent. The number of infections is also increasing in some places. The government fears an increase in the number of infections if measures are relaxed.

In the UK, 13,729 people have since died of the effects of the COVID-19 virus. This only concerns the number of people who died in hospitals, the actual number is probably much higher.

Statistical models suggest that the United Kingdom risks being hit more severely than Italy and Spain.

Deputy Prime Minister refuses to name a term

Raab also declined to mention a timeline for potentially alleviating all measures. “Every timeline you create is artificial and arbitrary,” he said. “It would be irresponsible to make such statements, so I don’t do it.”

Raab is the official deputy to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is recovering from a coronavirus infection. He previously spent some time in the intensive care department. His spokesman left Tuesday know that the prime minister is strengthening at Checkers, the official country retreat of the British prime ministers.
