Union Berlin Pursues Winter Transfer Reinforcements, Eyes FC Porto’s Toni Martinez

In order to escape bottom of the table, Union Berlin is looking for reinforcements for the winter transfer period. The Iron Men seem to have found an interesting man in FC Porto.

According to data from Sport1 Toni Martinez is on Union Berlin’s list. The attacker still has a long-term contract with FC Porto, but is allowed to leave the Portuguese in the winter. According to the report, Porto are open to a loan deal – with or without an option to buy.

Martinez got off to a really good start to the season with the Champions League participants and was able to get on the top scorer list on matchdays 1 and 2. After that, however, his playing time became shorter and shorter and he hasn’t scored a goal since. He only played a single minute in the last four league games.

His record in the previous season reads a little more positively: As a noble joker, Martinez had ten goal participations in the league in 2022/23. He also did quite well in the national cup competitions with eight goals in twelve games.

If you look at the Iron team’s squad, you inevitably come to the conclusion that a possible entry of Martinez would also result in departures. There are currently six center forwards in Union’s squad. There were also rumors of changes for Benedict Hollerbach (VfL Bochum) and Sheraldo Becker (Eintracht Frankfurt) this week.
