The team Russia blew up the main bridge connecting the town of Bakhmut near the village of Khromove, Ukraineusing missiles Thursday (2/3) evening local time.
Likewise, the last supply line from Bakhmut to the city of Chasiv Yar was also destroyed by Russian troops.
A number of Ukrainian soldiers told CNNthat Russian troops have taken control of the main bridge that connects Bakhmut City with other cities in Ukraine.
The bridge collapsed after a Russian missile hit it and left a large hole. The Ukrainian soldier believes that the Bakhmut bridge was hit by an Iskander missile.
This condition has cut off supplies and evacuation routes to and from Bakhmut. The evacuation process was forced to use another route which was very muddy and difficult to pass.
Local officials said they hoped there would be repairs to the bridge in the next few days.
Previously, the boss of the Russian mercenary Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to ask his citizens to leave the city of Bakhmut.
Prigozhin said the Wagner Group’s troops were close to encircling the city and were preparing to take it.
“Wagner’s assault units are slightly encircling Bakhmut and only one lane of the road remains. The flanking troops are starting to close their ranks,” Prigozhin was quoted as saying. CNN.
“They (Ukrainian soldiers) are fighting, but their lives near Bakhmut are getting shorter, another day or two. Give them a chance to leave the city (Bakhmut). The city is already under siege,” he added.
