The consequences of the court hearings in The Hague on the incident in the Kerch Strait will be “serious and lasting” for Russia, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said on October 16. According to him, Kiev at the trial will “press with the iron logic of legal arguments.”
V column for the UP, the minister wrote that the victory of Kiev in court is important “for the world as a whole,” as this would be a signal that “the rules must not be broken.” He expressed confidence that the decision made in The Hague would be fair, and “Russia will find itself in the corner of the legal ring.”
“And we will crush the Russian criminals. Let this (trial – ed.) Take a little longer than it took the Russian military to ram a ship in international waters. But the consequences for violators will be more serious and lasting,” Kuleba wrote.
On October 11, the Arbitration Tribunal in The Hague began hearings on the seizure of Ukrainian ships by Russian border guards in the Kerch Strait in November 2018.
