The start of operation of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and the cessation of gas transit through Ukraine will increase the likelihood of a “full-scale war” between Moscow and Kiev. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Ukrainian state oil and gas company “Naftogaz” Yuri Vitrenko in an interview with the British edition of the Financial Times.
“If there is no physical transit of gas through Ukraine, this increases the likelihood of a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine with all the ensuing consequences.“he stressed.

Construction of Nord Stream 2 was fully completed on September 10th. In order to start the gas supply, the project operator was required to submit certificates of compliance with the technical standards to the mining administration of the city of Stralsund. Registration as an independent transport operator is also required – the Federal Grid Agency must publish the draft decision by 8 January 2022. This agency cannot ban the commercial supply of gas, but if it starts before registration, the operator will be fined. . This registration is required to comply with the norms of the EU Gas Directorate.
