LONDON – Defense Minister English , Ben Wallace criticizes the deal United States of America (USA) and Taliban . He also condemned the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan.

Wallace claims that “nearly all” NATO member states are not interested in Britain’s call to stay in Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US troops from the country. Also read: Norovirus will become a new pandemic like COVID-19 in the UK next month

“We tried a number of like-minded countries. Some said they were interested, but their parliament was not. It became clear quickly that without the US as a framework state, this option was closed,” he said.

“Britain is saddened, about all the blood and treasure that has been spent, that this is how it ended (in Afghanistan),” he continued, as reported by Sputnik on Monday (9/8/2021).

According to him, the possibility of Britain unilaterally stationing troops in Afghanistan would be “infeasible”. “Because we (England) have to draw from many other places around the world,” he said.

He also denounced what he described as a “rotten deal” in light of the deal struck between then US President Donald Trump and the Taliban. The deal stipulates the withdrawal of American and NATO troops from Afghanistan within 14 months.

“I am saddened that the deal separates a lot from what has been achieved in Afghanistan over the past 20 years. We’ll probably be back in ten or 20 years. But to move now was already impossible. The damage has been done with the deal,” he said.

Referring to the NATO withdrawal, Wallace emphasized that once again the West has been exposed to the idea that they are only fixing problems, not managing problems. Also read: Afghan translator asks UK for help: ‘Taliban will behead me’
