UEFA Fines Antwerp for Fan Behavior in Porto Defeat & Arrests Made at Reunion Game

Antwerp was fined 20 thousand euros by UEFA, with a suspended sanction of partial closure of the stadium, due to the Fan behavior in the home defeat against FC Porto (4-1)for the football Champions League, in the game played on October 25th.

According to a statement this Friday from the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, the game saw bad behavior from Belgian fans, for which the club is now fined 20 thousand euros. There is also a ban on “at least three thousand places”, a sentence suspended for two years.

This Tuesday, the day of the reunion between the two clubs, in which FC Porto hosted Antwerp and won again (2-0), three men were arrested as part of the police operation at this game.

According to the PSP, a man was arrested on suspicion of qualified disobedience, for failing to comply with an order banning access to sports venues. A man was also arrested for alleged counterfeiting and another for suspected attacks on physical integrity.

Earlier, on Monday night, a PSP source told Lusa that around 300 fans of the Belgian champion caused disturbances in downtown Portoin the Ribeira area.
