The Petrochemical Senior Boys State Championship Finals continue with additional qualifiers.
The graduates of the U18 team, with head coach Martin Penev and assistant Veselin Stoilov, led by their captain Antoine Tsenov, finished in third place in qualifying Group E in Plovdiv.
Our young volleyball players beat Pernik “Miner” 3:0 (20, 22, 20), but lost to the winner of the tournament “Levski” 0:3 (17, 17, 15).
In a contested battle for second place with the host “Victoria”, our team lost 1:3 (-21, 22, -21, -21) in the sports hall of SU “Tsar Simeon the Great”.
Before this match, it was already known that Marto Penev’s team would in any case go to additional qualifications, as “Miner” remained without a win after 0:3 against “Levski”.
The winners of the four qualifying tournaments in Plovdiv, Sevlievo, Stara Zagora and Sofia qualify directly for the finals of the state championship.
The second and third place finishers in each group, among which “Neftokhimik” is, form two additional tournaments with 4 teams each. The first two from each stream complete the format of the finals, which are 8 teams.
