Hydrocarbons, oil? We do not know precisely the nature of the tablecloth 150 meters long and 3-4 meters wide observed Tuesday in the Orne, under the footbridge of the Blue Wire, in Vitry-sur-Orne. It was a passerby who spotted this pollution and alerted the firefighters of Hagondange. They were supported on site by their counterparts from Thionville who came with the truck specializing in chemical risks.
The product flowed from a spillway located between Clouange and Vitry. To limit the pollution of the Orne, the firefighters set up two absorption tubes at the outlet of the spillway in question. But they could not do anything about the slick already present in the river, the product in question not being recoverable.
However, the specialists wanted to be reassuring about the quantity of pollutants spilled.
The gendarmes of Fameck also went on the spot. Because several questions remain unanswered: what is the origin of this pollution? Is this an incident or a malicious act?
