Two Years After the Christchurch Mosque Attack, Here’s How Indonesian Muslims Are in New Zealand

WELLINGTON, KOMPAS.TV New Zealand today commemorates two years of shootings that took place at two mosques in the city of Christchurch, which killed 51 Muslims praying on Friday.

The culmination of this world -shocking event was held on Saturday (13/3/2021).

In commemoration, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern expressed how this incident had changed New Zealand’s perspective.

“ After March 15 (2019), we have learned a lot. We are willing to ask ourselves some very difficult questions. We have faced and continue to question our laws, our systems, our bureaucracy. And many things change and will continue to change, “he said as quoted by the Associated Press.

In remembrance of these two years, Muslims in New Zealand admit that there were many changes they felt before and after the heartbreaking attack.

Three Indonesian Muslim women, namely Amalia Sustikarini, Hesthi Nugroho and Dietce Apriani, remembered the incident.
